But It's Only a Small Quake
People in and around Lincoln may have felt their world shake a little bit on Saturday due to a small earthquake.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake happened at around 12:30 p.m.
The quake was centered about 13 miles east of Lincoln, 29 miles northwest of Helena, and 65 miles southwest of Great Falls.
Several people in Lincoln and Helena reported feeling the quake.
It was recorded at a depth of about 5.3 miles.
There have been no reports of injuries or damage.
According to the USGS, Montana is one of the most seismically-active states in the country, although the vast majority of recorded earthquakes are very small, causing no damage and rarely noticed by people.
