NEWS: City to Sky Trail Races Open Registration for 2025 Event

Registration for Montana's beloved City to Sky Trail Races is set to open Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 8 PM.
This premier trail running event, known for showcasing Missoula's spectacular natural landscapes, features two challenging courses through the region's conservation lands and recreation areas.
The 50K Ultra, limited to 175 participants, offers a demanding route with multiple mountain summits, circling the Pattee Creek watershed with 8,000 feet of elevation gain over 33 miles. For those seeking a shorter but equally rewarding experience, the 25K course accommodates 125 runners and covers the back half of the 50K route, featuring the picturesque House of Sky Ridgeline Trail.
Both races conclude in Missoula's University District and traverse primarily trail terrain, with less than two miles of pavement throughout. The courses are known for featuring some of Montana's smoothest single-track trails.
"The City to Sky Trail Races are a true testament to the power of partnership," said Trisha Drobeck, Executive Director of Run Wild Missoula. "By working together with these incredible land managers, we're able to provide a world-class race experience while also promoting conservation and responsible trail stewardship."

This collaborative event crosses lands managed by Five Valleys Land Trust, Lolo National Forest, Montana Department of Natural Resources & Conservation, Missoula Parks & Recreation, and the University of Montana.
Organized by Montana Trail Crew, part of the nonprofit Run Wild Missoula, the races demonstrate the organization's commitment to trail conservation and community building. Montana Trail Crew focuses on discovering and maintaining trail access, advocating for wild land preservation, and fostering the trail-running community in Montana.
Run Wild Missoula supports over 2,100 members of varying abilities and backgrounds, offering races, training groups, and community events throughout the year.
Registration spots are expected to fill quickly—in previous years, all available entries were claimed in less than an hour. Interested runners are encouraged to register promptly when registration opens.
