If you're a vegan, we have nothing but respect for you.  You've made a wise, eco-friendly choice.  A plant-based diet is good for the earth, and if we switched over, we'd probably be able to fit into our lucky jeans again before too long.  Vegans of the world, we salute you.

The thing that really gains you our respect is your willpower - your ability not to give in when you see a nice big juicy burger.

There's the sound of a nice big hamburger sizzling and the smell.  Oh, carmelized onions?  Sure, that sounds good, yeah, we'll have some.   A slice of cheese?  Yeah, why not throw one on too.  A second hamburger patty?  Why you devil, we're going to have to watch ourselves around you, aren't we?

Ahem, we forgot what we were talking about.

Oh yes: don't you think that's how grizzly bears must see cows?  Though bison were once a staple of grizzly diet before industrialized society put a stop to that by nearly eliminating the bison.  But even then, now that bison populations are on the rise, there are a few rare occasions when a grizzly gets to have a bite of bison.

But what they never get, and what they must really want, are domesticated livestock.  A bunch of cows in a field must look to them like a bunch of twinkies standing on a plate.  And yet, most grizzlies are smart enough to stay out of human areas for the most part, especially if the humans are correspondingly smart enough to secure their food waste.

And yet, it does happen that a bear will pick off some livestock here and there -- more likely a sheep or a chicken, but sometimes, a full cow.  While a black bear might dream of doing so, a grizzly is absolutely capable of doing so, if he has the opportunity.

And in this shocking video below, this big Wyoming bear's got motive, opportunity, and appetite.  Check out the video, and in the meantime I'm going to tuck into this here burger.  Oh, do you have any ketchup?

That is fantastic to see! Awesome and terrible at the same time.

Nothing terrible when an animal needs to eat to survive just like you do sistah

Totally Agree!! We're moving into their homes, their not moving into ours. Our planet is home to Many Species and Just Because We're Humans, Does Not Mean We Have The Right To Kill Them! Maybe if We Wouldn't Have Slaughtered Thousands of Bison, Their Main Food Source, Besides Deer and Elk... I'm sure They'd Leave the Cattle Alone!! We Have To Learn To Share and Have Compassion and Empathy for ALL ANIMALS!! WE DO NOT OWN THIS WONDERFUL PLANET!!! PLEASE DO SOME SERIOUS RESEARCH ABOUT THIS SUBJECT. THANK YOU. SINCERELY KARI POWELL.?????????. TIME TO FIND A REAL SOLUTION OPPOSED TO MURDER AND TERRIBLE WAYS CERTAIN PEOPLE ACCOMPLISH THIS!! AGAIN THANK YOU. ?❤️❤️??

If that was my cattle !! I choose my livestock over the bear !? it would not be my fault that the bear does not have anything to graze on or eat
Don't know (not verified) , Sun, 09/06/2020 - 12:36
This is one of earths species of soon to be endangered animals on the planet and you want to choose a simple cattle that theirs over of billion of and that were destroying their habitat to feed more of them to feed us in turn. You have the audacity to make such a stupid and selfish comment and blame it on the bear It's just a cattle Bman get over it
JoAnn Shults (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 06:04
Poor calf! Shouldnt raise Cattle in Grizzly country, it is the Bears home after all.
JS (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 07:42
To many tree huggers. Pretty sure mankind was created first than animals. Like anything else these bears need to be managed through hunting. There population has grown out of control. If this bear was eating my life stock he would be getting a 200gr Nosler Partition through his shoulders.
Curtis Conrad (not verified) , Sun, 09/06/2020 - 01:47
You're just jealous because the bear got a burger and you didn't
For Tree Hugger (not verified) , Sun, 09/06/2020 - 03:56
Too many Humans encroaching on animal habitat. It's the humans that need to go not the animals. Mankind has become a virus on this planet. We are not the only species on this planet, we just act like it

That's the honest truth. I'm 100% on your side!
Jennifer (not verified) , Sun, 09/06/2020 - 08:37
Actually no if you read The Bible animals were created 1st and then man. But then we were told man is to control all the species of the Earth and skies.
Silvio (not verified) , Sun, 09/06/2020 - 09:07
Absolutely. There is plenty of deer and elk and everything else for that bear to eat. No he has to pick on easy livestock that the farmer or rancher has hundreds of dollars invested in. People don’t understand what raising and owning livestock is about. Now that farmer is out the money, and the beef if he was going to butcher it for his family. He doesn’t raise cattle to lose them, he raises them to sell and feed people. If that was my cow that bear would be a rug on my living room floor.
Bell (not verified) , Sun, 09/06/2020 - 19:10
Not only is that rancher out for that beef but that grizzly won't stop with one he will make a habit now of killing livestock which will lead to the Conservation dept putting it down.
Pete (not verified) , Tue, 11/24/2020 - 19:44
Seems the farmer lost sight of his investment and didn’t properly secure or protect the investment. The beat doesn’t know or care about that. If you know there are bears, maybe do a better job. The bear has to eat. Had it been a human he wouldn’t have cared either. Sad for the calf to suffer, but if you live in bear country, it shouldn’t take this for you to know you have to do more. Killing the bear because of poor management of livestock isn’t the answer either.
Steve l (not verified) , Sun, 09/06/2020 - 09:59
I can't blame the grizzly. Stands to reason I can't blame you either.
I'd 'd do the same.
Ytones (not verified) , Mon, 09/07/2020 - 13:38
The bear won’t respect anyone who can’t spell better than him. And I’m not even going to start on your appealing ignorance regarding the origins of various species. Most predators pre-date humankind... many by several million years.
Spell check (not verified) , Fri, 07/02/2021 - 10:58
The word you wanted to to use is appalling, not appealing. Complaining about his comment is hypocrisy on your part.
James (not verified) , Fri, 07/02/2021 - 11:14
Man came after animals both in science and in the bible, what do you mean mankind came before animals.
Jim Mathes (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 11:57
And where do humans belong? Where do cattle belong?
P.G. Water (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 19:19
Well JoAnn , wherever you now live was once home to large predators , so when are you leaving ???
Matt (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 06:21
& you wonder why Ranchers eant the Grizzlys gone
Mike (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 09:26
Dumb comment this calf was in the street running around it's either the grizzly bear takes it down or it would have got run over.. leave the grizzly bears alone
Anonymous (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 10:21
Really? Grizzlies home and if you want free range cattle in Predators territory that's what's going to happen either build a fence or deal with losing a few cattle here and there

Screw the ranchers
Stmg (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 06:26
Sorry but why is that person honking at that bear it's just trying to get a meal and feed its Cubs probably that's the way of the food chain
Tess Tickles (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 07:04
I know. I thought they same thing. People are so clueless.
John (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 08:11
Talk about people being clueless, look at both of you naive ducks. This has nothing to do with the nature, cattle are not wildlife but it is how Farmers support their families. If you see a grizzly bear killing a dog, you think that's nature? there's a big difference between a grizzly bear killing cattle then a grizzly bear bear killing a deer. I'm sorry but you too are hilarious and ridiculous at the same time.
Big bird (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 23:14
Yes. I do think, a bear killing a dog is " nature" I'd be like.. atta boy for the bear and the dog. More so the dog. As it is doing, what nature intended it to do. Protect and alert us from predators. And for the bear, taking an easy meal. Cuz, that! To quote the great mufasa, " is the circle of life." Who needs comedians. When we have all of these myth busting " there's no such thing as a bad idea" ideas. Lol
Steve (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 11:36
Probably trying to scare the bear off so the calf can get away and live.
Jim Mathes (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 11:59
They are likely honking at the bear because predation on livestock will likely lead to the demise of the bear, either being trapped and relocated or destroyed.
D from Detroit (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 13:04
Cattle are domestic not wild, Wild should hunt wild not domesticated
Cary E Reese (not verified) , Sun, 09/06/2020 - 05:59
Are you telling me, you think the bear is supposed to know the difference between wild and domestic dinner. WOW
Ruby (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 17:40
He was honking to stop the grizzly to attack the cow. Yea it’s a good meal for the bear but it’s a big loss for the owner.
Max Ross (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 07:53
Why is this idiot honking at the bear, incredible..
Anonymous (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 09:04
Now when you think of killing fellow creatures to eat them. Disgusting.
Mike s (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 09:27
Why would you honk u embicel just sit back and let nature run its course...u numbskull grizzly bear gots to eat to survive
Raymond Ramirez (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 09:48
if it were my cattle that grizzly would ate a 7 mag
Off-road (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 10:06
If you live anywhere in the world you have displaced some type of wild animal and should leave because they were there first. Absolutely a stupid argument. Just as stupid as saying bears don't cross roads.......

The carring capacity of the range is what determines how many animals can survive. When it's exceeded then they either need to be relocated or the numbers balanced. Since other states have refused to take grizzly bears the only other option is to reduce numbers, either by starvation or by hunting with quotas limited the numbers taken. All wild game need this to maintain a healthy population. Grizzly included.

If that had been a sow with Cubs they would have been there. Sows don't haul food back in their mouths like a bird to the nest. Amazing anyone would think that......

Hopefully the rancher will be quickly notified and paid for their loss.
EK (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 10:09
The honking of the horn is just making the bear even more aggressive.
Sick people (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 10:35
People should intervene when they can. That's nature too. Animals in the wild often intervene and save wild animals. If it was your head of cattle you wouldn't just watch would you. Of course not. I am always going to intervene. Bears don't have anymore land rights then people. Gees wake up people. Oh now that bear likely gets killed too
Kristie borer (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 12:32
People are clueless that just cost the rancher up to 500.00. Who's just trying to raise cattle to feed his family. Not the wild life.
Lester Ruffles (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 12:36
Im sure that bear finished it off. Hey bears gotta eat..
D from Detroit (not verified) , Sat, 09/05/2020 - 13:02
Why would you entertain and film this? This bear should have been sedated and stopped, relocated!
