Glacier National Park's snowplow crew is tackling the "Big Drift" at Logan Pass on the Going-to-the-Sun Road.
The park's west-side crew reached the drift Wednesday while a crew approaching Logan Pass from the east was working near the East Tunnel on Thursday.
Park spokeswoman Jennifer Lutman says they don't have an estimate of how deep the "Big Drift" is this year, but plow crews believe it's deeper than recent years.
Work to open the road includes putting up removable railings along the highway, clearing the Logan Pass parking lot and cleaning up debris along the road.
Lutman says the Sun Road will likely be open to Logan Pass sometime after June 20.
