The Townsend Christmas Stroll is that Norman Rockwell image of a small community in the Spirit of the Season. Children at play, artisans selling their hand produced wares, local entertainers sharpening their thespian chops, the smells of roast beef and sweet confections loft through the crisp December air. Through all of this you hear the soft foot falls of horse-drawn hayride, and the smell of freshly cut Christmas trees.
Broadway and Front Street are closed except for foot traffic with the museum and local stores all providing their usual fine selections as well as providing artisans with a venue to provide the public with those products you won't find elsewhere. Prize drawings, Christmas script and the season itself spark the Christmas spirit that only a small thriving community can display.
