Wartime Blues is an experimental americana outfit based in the small, mountainous town of Missoula, Montana. Their sound has been compared to “Nebraska”-era Bruce Springsteen, Wilco and the more acoustic aspects of Yo La Tengo.
After a three-year hiatus in which half the band moved to Texas, Wartime Blues reconvened on the shores of the largest lake in Montana to record “April, Texas,” their third record. It’s a song cycle set in small towns across the southern Great Plains.
Wartime Blues has a bunch of people in it, and at any given show you can see one to nine folks playing.
