LIVE FROM THE DIVIDE is a radio broadcast created simply as a "A Celebration of the American Songwriter". The 60 minute show features regionally established & legendary songwriters alike. Based out of an intimate 50 person venue and recording facility in Bozeman, Montana.
Artists vary their interactions with the crowd, sometimes poking fun at a live audience member or by taking time to explain the origin of the song they are about to perform. The program provides listeners with an unparalleled opportunity to hear songwriters in a natural stripped down and raw setting.
Sam Platts & The Kootenai Three play the kind of classic country, blues and honky-tonk tunes that makes for smooth, get-up-and-dance music. Platts leads this four-piece honky-tonk band with his silky steel guitar playing and a deep baritone voice to fall in love with. This is the kind of music people used to dance to in grange halls on Saturday nights, but with a modern twist and original lyrics. Joining Sam are Kaj Seifert on lead guitar, J Kane on bass and Jarrett Payne on drums. Bandleader Sam Platts is a Wyoming native whose family has lived within sight of Elko Mountain for five generations on ranches and in neighboring towns. His grandparents met at a Hank Thompson dance in Rock River, Wyoming in the 1950s, so it was inevitable that he would inherit a passion for traditional country and western swing. Sam's father Scott is his musical mentor as well as being a respected luthier. The Platts family owns and runs Stonetree Custom Guitars, and Sam plays guitars made by his father and himself. Sam is also known for his lead and steel guitar playing with Wylie & The Wild West.
