The neo-psychedelic rock band was founded by Anton Newcombe, Matt Hollywood, Ricky Maymi, Patrick Straczek, and Travis Threlkel in the early 1990s in San Francisco. Their sound is heavily influenced by the psychedelic sounds of the 1960s, but also carries influences from jangle pop, garage rock, and lo-fi sonorities.
