17th Annual Earth Day Celebration -- BILLINGS -- April 18th

April 18th

Join the Montana Audubon Center for a day of land improvement work in honor of the 45th anniversary of Earth Day. Volunteers will help build the elements for our new Shepard Nature Play Space which will be officially open to the public on May 16th. In addition our naturalists will lead trash pick-up hikes and we’ll have hands-on educational activities for children of all ages.

The Montana Audubon Center is building Billings’ first public ADA accessible Nature Play Space for the community. A Nature Play Space provides a space where children can play outside and connect with nature in a safe, unstructured manner. The Audubon Center’s Nature Play Space will represent and mimic the natural components that are found along the Yellowstone River Valley. It will be open to the public free of charge, seven days a week during daylight hours. The Center provides valuable open space, free and accessible to the public, within rapidly expanding communities in close proximity to Billings’ south-side district. For more information and to see the design go to www.mtacec.org.

Work and fun begin at 9:00 AM. Volunteers will be rewarded with a free BBQ lunch at noon hosted by Lucky’s Market and Wheat Montana. Please join for an hour, or the whole day. Bring water, work gloves, and the whole family. No fee for participation. Event takes place rain or shine!

The Montana Audubon Center is a grassroots project developed in partnership with the Yellowstone River Parks Association. It is located on 54 acres of land along the Yellowstone River in Billings, MT. This site is a former gravel mine, which has been transformed by volunteers into habitat for wildlife and a year-round education facility. The Center serves to preserve and enrich wildlife habitat, connect people with nature, and provide important open space and public outdoor recreational opportunities within Billings.

We are located at 7026 South Billings Boulevard, ¼ mile south of I – 90 on the right (west) side of the road.
