Researching montana craft beer is surprisingly fun…even for those who don’t consider themselves beer aficionados.  for one, you can study it almost anywhere.  most communities have a tavern or restaurant that features a few montana brews.  but to truly taste the flavor of the big sky state, you’ll need some time and a map.

Deep in the fabled bitterroot valley, with the snow crested peaks of the bitterroot mountains looming overhead, sits a restaurant just on the outskirts of hamilton, montana, called the edge, a place that has succeeded in offering something for everyone.  tom and tammy fair founded the edge restaurant in august of 1997.

The state of montana may not be an ideal place to grow grapes, but increasingly it is an ideal place to consume grapes in their most evolved, transcendant state: wine. when life under the big sky gets dry and dusty, frigid or snowy, we can simply uncork and sip liquid stories of more temperate climates.

Co-owner laurent zirotti is one of the main attractions at enzo mediterranean bistro in billings. his movie star looks and french accent draw patrons through the door. but it is the firm handshake and friendly slap on the back for the men and gentle double-kiss on the cheeks for the women that encourage them to remain and to return.
